Clothes Shopping Tip

Try to avoid buying clothes that are Dry Clean Only. Instead, purchase clothes that you can machine wash. The cost of dry cleaning can be expensive and really put a dent in your wallet. I think you get more wear from your wardrobe when you can easily machine wash them. Simply check the clothing label for proper washing. You may find that you don't wear certain clothes in your wardrobe often because you don't want to spend money dry cleaning them. Trust me, your wallet will thank you for it!

Halftime Exercises

Hey There, will you be watching football today? If so, how about doing some exercises during the halftime shows. Yeah I know you'd like to watch the recaps on the games, but some of these can be done while watching the halftime commentary. You will be finished exercising just in time to watch the second half of the games. Pick one:

-->Do 2-3 sets of push ups, sit ups, lunges/squats
-->Lift free weights
-->Take a walk

Young & Frugal

It's never too early to start on the path to saving money. In these tough economic times, families are tightening their budgets like never before. With unemployment being so high, there is probably one parent in the household who is not working. I am sure parents are explaining to their children that the family has to cut back on some of the extras such as expanded cable to basic.

If you are able to give your children an allowance, ask them to pitch in some of their money to buy the new video game, music CD, clothing item, etc. they want to purchase. I believe that when kids contribute to their must-haves, they appreciate the item more. Remember, Frugal Rocks!

Good Healthy Eats

A small salad with dinner is healthy good. Use romaine or green leaf lettuce and top it with some favorites like tomatoes and cucumbers. A salad is a good way to fill you up along with the main entree. When you eat dinner out, the menu usually comes with a variety of side offerings. A good pick is the small salad. Also, order the salad dressing on the side so you can control how much is poured on top. Yummy Good!

Monday's Budget Tip

Happy Monday! I thought this would be a good day to offer up this budget tip:

Plan one day this week to spend no money. Here are a few ideas to accomplish this budget-saving task. Prepare coffee at home; brown bag for lunch; eat piece of fruit or peanut butter crackers for snacking; fix leftovers for dinner. Go ahead, it's only one day. Who knows, you may decide to do it again within the same week. Hope so!

My Favorite Things

One of my favorite things to do on Sunday is water my indoor plants which are plenty. They provide clean fresh air throughout the house. In order to avoid over watering, I pick one day out of the week and water everything. A good indoor plant is the Golden Pothos which has lovely, bold green leaves. They tend to trail down from the planter or shelving for a nice look. A great way to get more plants from just this one is to clip a piece off the end, place the clipping in a glass of water, and it will root for more plants. I often look for interesting shaped glass jars at thrift stores or garage sales for the clippings. At times, I will leave the clippings in the jars instead of planting them in potting soil. I place the jars around the house especially on the kitchen window seal. If you do keep the clippings in the jars, remember to clean the jars from time to time because the water gets murky and the roots get tangled.

Have a wonderful and relaxing day with family and friends on this Simply Gorgeous Sunday!

Enjoy Your Friday!

I hope your Friday is off to a great start and there is plenty of sunshine outside your window. It's a gorgeous day in Atlanta and I am planning some work & play. I enjoy sharing neat ideas for fun and here are some for today.

-->Enjoy your lunch hour outside today. Ask a co-worker to join you and chat away about your weekend plans.
-->How about ordering pizza for the family tonight. If you can, stop by your local library and checkout a free movie DVD for after dinner viewing. Also, there are lots of selections on movies at those Red Boxes located in the entrance of most Walmart stores and the rental fee is inexpensive.
-->A couples dinner out is always fun. Check your coupon stash for any restaurants who are running specials like Buy One Dinner Get One Free. If you don't find one, go out anyway. You've been budgeting on meals all week and deserve a fun night out.

Simply Enjoy!

Paying on Credit Cards

The ideal payment plan on credit cards is to pay the balance in full each month to avoid interest. If that's not possible, try to make a double payment on your credit cards each month in order to pay down the balance faster. If the monthly payment is $15, send $30. Of course, it's always best to use cash when making purchases.

Exercise Tip of the Day

Good Monday Hello! As someone who enjoys starting the day with warm coffee, I like my coffee pretty hot. I place the mug in the microwave for about 30 or more seconds for extra warmth. If I get busy on a project at my laptop, my coffee gets lukewarm so I add the extra warming just in case. So that little tidbit leads me to the Exercise Tip of the Day:

While heating items in the microwave, do a couple of sets of squats, lunges, arm twirls, side bends, or any standing exercise while you wait. This is a great way to work in some exercise throughout the day. Try it!
